During the March break, seven HM varsity teams travelled to Florida and California to start their seasons with spring training and competion. Golf, Softball, Baseball, Boys and Girls' Lacrosse, and Crew headed to Florida, while Boys Tennis played in San Diego.

In a March 20th press release, U.S. SQUASH announced the recipients of two of it's most prestigious awards to outstanding members of the junior squash community. Pierson Broadwater '14 was selected for the William T. Ketcham Award.

As Horace Mann School celebrates its 125th anniversary the entire school community is commemorating its powerful traditions. One of those is "Buzzell" – the annual basketball game taking place this year on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Manhattan College's Draddy Gymnasium. The girls' game begins at 6 p.m. and the boys tip off at 7:45 p.m.

The Dalton gymnasium was packed on Friday, January 20, 2012. Horace Mann students, faculty and team parents had come to root the Lions team to the day's 47-34 victory. They'd also come to cheer on team captain Madison (Maddy) Gordon '12 who was expected to score her one-thousandth HM career point—and shoot her way into the pages of Horace Mann School history.

Back when Rajeev Deb-Sen '08 and Haig Schneiderman '08 played tennis at Horace Mann the excitement on the court was electrifying. Together with other top players, including David Orbach '08, a captain who was followed everywhere by chants of "D.O.!" and Robbie Erani '08 the team was one of the winning-est in HM history.

Athletes and fans participating in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer High School Basketball Classic in February 2011 netted over $40,000 for the American Cancer Society. Horace Mann School is a regular competitor in the tournament, with Ray Barile coordinating HM's efforts and those of 26 other high schools, for the competition.

The Horace Mann Girls' Varsity Gymnastics team placed first in the 2011 AAIS Championship meet on Feb. 26, 2011 upsetting the No. 1 seeded Chapin School. It is the program's 11th straight and 13th overall title.

Horace Mann School alumni who join the entire Horace Mann community at the Buzzell Games on Saturday night, February 26, will be treated to some exciting play as the Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball teams take on Riverdale. The event starts at 6 p.m. with the girls' game and follows with the boys' game at 7:45 p.m. in Manhattan College’s Draddy Gymnasium on Tibbett Avenue and 242nd Street.

The 12th Annual ISFL Individual Fencing Championships was held again this year at The Horace Mann School on Saturday, February 5th. Horace Mann's varsity fencing team had one of their best ISFL's to date.

Horace Mann Boys Varsity Basketball defeated Dalton 51-49 on Wednesday with a late basket in the final seconds of the game.

Horace Mann School Lions varsity soccer players from both the boys and girls teams earned “All-Bronx” honors from The New York Post at the completion of the fall season.

The New York Post has named Margot Penn ’10 All-Bronx Girls Volleyball Player of the Year and cited the Horace Mann School’s team as one of the “best (teams) in the city” in a borough of “deep” teams, in a stellar season in which the Lions won its third straight Ivy League title and advanced to its second NYSAISAA final in three years.

After placing 2nd overall in the NYSAISAA Cross County Championship and receiving their runner-up plaques, the Lions received word that they had also earned a bid to the New York State Federation XC Meet.
